Heat can be transferred by conduction, convection, and radiation, and evaporation (phase change), and expansion. This talk discusses the ability to cool a surface and water by being reflective at visible wavelengths and emmittimg light in the infrared wavelengths. The emission of heat via thermal IR radiation was the secret the ancients used in the desert to produce ice in the desert at night.
