Doom Fatigue

Noah knew exactly when the Great Flood was to come. Most Jews know that God signaled to Noah when Noah was to load the ark. That signal was Methuselah's death which means "his death shall bring". According to Jews, after Methuselah died, the rains came 7 days afterwards. There may be a parallel prophecy in scripture in Isaiah 17:1-2 concerning Damascus. Methuselah was the oldest man to ever live. Damascus is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. Damascus is 'Genesis' old. And Isaiah prophecies that this ancient city will one day entirely "cease from being a city, but become a ruinous heap" and when that happens, then the "fortress of Ephraim shall cease".

So, this brings some comfort with all the continuous doom and collapse predictions. Every time I hear a prediction of the next impending calamitous global disaster and collapse, I just check to see that Damascus is still there. If it is, then it's gonna be a good day. And I think we can also say that while there might be limited economic issues, fires, wars, earthquakes and such; that there will not be a complete social collapse before the eventual collapse (likely nuclear war) because Christ tells us that, just like the days of Noah, people were continuing to marry and be giving in marriage right up until the end (when Methuselah died and Noah entered the ark ).
